Dr. Christa Martinez, DSW, LMSW, is a licensed social worker, educator, and child welfare advocate with 14 years of experience supporting youth and families across education, mental health, and foster care systems.
As a foster care alumna, Dr. Martinez brings lived experience alongside her clinical and professional expertise. She earned her Doctor of Social Work degree with a focus on advanced clinical practice, specializing in trauma-informed care, resilience, and therapeutic support for youth and families impacted by foster care. Her dissertation explored resilience and protective factors among foster care alumni pursuing higher education.
Throughout her career, Dr. Martinez has served as a school-based mental health clinician in a Title I school, child welfare professional, trainer, and nonprofit leader. Her work centers on trauma-informed practice, youth empowerment, and advancing equity through public service.
She is also the founder of Foster Care Connect Foundation, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to uplifting and empowering youth and alumni of foster care through education, advocacy, and community connection.
